United We Win, Divided We Fail

Democrats of influence (no names need be mentioned) need to stop attacking the progressive wing their own party.  It's happened a number of times in the past few weeks, and it needs to stop immediately.  If there's one obvious lesson to come out of the 2018 midterm election, it's that the Democratic Party is far stronger when it's united than when it's divided. When Hillary Clinton won the 2016 primary election, she gave an inspiring acceptance speech that should have reunified the party.  The problem is, following that speech, her campaign and many of its most avid supporters adopted a different tactic, proceeding to belittle and insult progressive voters rather than work with them.  Instead of incorporating the most sensible...

BREAKING NEWS: Congress Actually Accomplished Something!

No, this isn't an Onion article. No, we're not kidding. Congress actually achieved something!!! The House of Representatives successfully passed a long-term solution to the “doc fix” problem on Thursday, which is something they've kicked down the road no less than 17 times since 2002.  While this news is certainly going to be celebrated by doctors across the country, the passage of the "doc fix" legislation is something that really deserves to be celebrated by every American, simply for representing a truly rare moment of cooperation by our legislators.

The Art of Starting a Revolution

In one of his recent YouTube videos, actor and activist Russell Brand eloquently pointed out that the vast majority of Americans don't approve of the way our politicians run things, and cited the need for a grassroots democratic revolution. Then, days later, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) made a similar suggestion on Real Time with Bill Maher, calling for an independent progressive movement as a democratic alternative to the two-party system.
